Panel Discussion

04.22.2020
George Miles, Karen Halverson, Lauren Henkin

I joined photographer Karen Halverson and George Miles, Curator, Western Americana, Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Yale University, in a live conversation, “Landscape Photography and the American West.” The foundation for the discussion was the exhibition "Eye on the West: Photography and the Contemporary West," which was presented at Beinecke 09/2018-12/2018 and curated by George Miles. Karen and I presented photographs in the exhibition along with eighteen other photographers. An accompanying book with the same title was published by Yale University Press.

The three of us have known each other for years and this was an engaging discussion about the Beinecke’s collection, photography (the history of and contemporary concerns), the West, landscape and place.
